Our Story

Rising Sun began with a simple belief: healing is possible when we feel safe, seen, and supported.

Founded by Ami Lynch, LCSW, Rising Sun Therapy & Wellness was created to be more than a therapy practice, it’s a space where people of all identities can show up fully, without needing to shrink or explain. After years in public health strategy, global mental health, and university teaching, Ami envisioned a practice rooted in both clinical depth and radical compassion. That vision became Rising Sun.

We are licensed in ten states and offer trauma-informed, LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, and culturally responsive therapy for individuals, couples/relationships, polycules, and families. Our work is grounded in values of social justice, consent, equity, and ethical care, and our commitment to these values shows up in every session.

Beyond working with clients, Ami is an active presenter, educator, and advocate who regularly speaks on trauma-informed care, LGBTQIA2S+ affirming therapy, ethics, and relationship diversity. Her publications and presentations reflect an ongoing commitment to advancing inclusive, evidence-based mental health care.

Our Mission

THERAPY THAT CELEBRATES WHO YOU ARE

At Rising Sun Therapy & Wellness, our mission is to offer deeply affirming, trauma-informed therapy that helps people reconnect with themselves—and with what’s possible. We believe healing happens in relationships rooted in trust, compassion, and curiosity. Here, you don’t need to justify your pain or perform your progress. You’ll be met with respect, transparency, and care that honors your full humanity.

We specialize in working with those navigating complex trauma, anxiety, neurodivergence, identity exploration, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. We affirm and celebrate LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, as well as their families who may be on a different part of a journey and need a place to do their work.
